The
Media Authority Pays Tribute and Extends Condolences on the Passing of
Journalist Emmanuel Joseph Akile.
The Media Authority has expressed deep sorrow and
heartfelt condolences following the passing of Emmanuel Joseph Akile, a distinguished
journalist from Eye Radio, whose dedication and professionalism greatly
contributed to the growth and integrity of journalism in South Sudan.
Speaking on behalf of the Media Authority, the Managing
Director, Hon. Elijah Alier Kuai, described the late Emmanuel Joseph Akile as a
committed journalist, a patriot, and a strong advocate for truth, peace, and
public service.
“Emmanuel Joseph Akile was more than an accredited journalist
serving the public interest. He was a guardian of truth whose work transcended the
newsroom and positively impacted the lives of many South Sudanese,” Hon. Elijah
stated.
The Managing Director noted that Emmanuel’s
contribution to Eye Radio’s widely respected Dawn Program stood as a testament
to his unwavering commitment to ethical journalism, accuracy, and responsible
public dialogue. Despite working under challenging conditions, he consistently upheld
the highest professional standards, earning respect within the media fraternity
and across the country.
Hon. Elijah further emphasized that Emmanuel’s
journalism went beyond reporting news; it carried messages of peace, reconciliation,
and social cohesion. He used his voice responsibly to promote unity and
understanding among the diverse communities, embodying journalism as a public
service dedicated to nation-building.
On behalf of the Media Authority, Hon. Elijah Alier
Kuai extended sincere condolences to the bereaved family, the Eye Radio family,
and the entire media community in South Sudan, describing the loss as a
significant one not only to the media sector but to the nation at large.
“The passing of Emmanuel Joseph Akile is deeply felt
by all who believe in the power of the media to bridge divides, promote unity,
and uphold the truth,” the letter read.
The Media Authority joined family, colleagues, and
friends in mourning the late journalist and called on media practitioners to
honor his legacy by upholding ethical, truthful, and peace-oriented journalism.
