Training

The Media Authority provides training and education to journalists and other media practitioners on ethical and professional standards. This training is important for several reasons:


  1. To promote professionalism and ethical standards in the media: The training helps journalists to understand and apply the ethical and professional standards of their profession. This includes covering news accurately and fairly, avoiding harmful content such as hate speech and misinformation, and protecting the confidentiality of sources.
  2. To improve the quality of journalism in South Sudan: The training helps journalists to develop the skills and knowledge they need to produce high-quality journalism. This includes skills such as research, interviewing, writing, and editing.

Training done by the Media


1. Basic journalism training:

This training covers the fundamentals of journalism, such as news writing, interviewing, and editing.

2. Advanced journalism training:

This training covers more specialized topics, such as investigative reporting, data journalism, and conflict reporting.

3. Ethics training:

This training covers the ethical and professional standards of journalism.

4. Media law training:

This training covers the laws that govern the media in South Sudan.


The Media Authority also provides training to media organizations on editorial policies and procedures. These training programs are open to all journalists and media practitioners in South Sudan, regardless of their experience level, and are typically offered free of charge.
