The Media Authority, in collaboration with Journalists for Human Rights (JHR), will conduct a two-day judicial training to end impunity for crimes against journalists by focusing on improving investigation and prosecution skills, understanding freedom of expression, and implementing international and domestic legal frameworks. The training will target judges, prosecutors, and other judicial actors to build their capacity to handle cases of violence against journalists and hold perpetrators accountable, which is crucial for protecting freedom of expression and ensuring public trust in the justice system under the theme:
“Promoting a Just Approach to Misinformation, Disinformation, and Hate Speech.”
This training will focus on the investigative
techniques and evidence collection in cases of attacks on journalists, the
application of international and domestic human rights law, particularly
regarding freedom of expression and attacks on the media, and understanding the
importance of press freedom and its connection to democracy and public
interest.
